After what will be 11 days and 165 miles of walking, our merry band of pilgrims will be arriving in Santiago de Compostela tomorrow morning around 11:30am. Our Mass will be celebrated at 1:15, where we’ll have the opportunity to celebrate the Eucharist with hundreds of people from all over the globe. We also have the added gift of seeing the mighty botafumerio sail across the Cathedral ceiling at the end of Mass….the word has spread amongst our fellow pilgrims about the botafumerio, and the ‘seminarians from Detroit’ have become quite the celebrities!! Typically, the bota only goes into action on Friday.
We’ll have an early wake-up tomorrow for the 12 mile, final walk. As we approach the Cathedral, we’ll be sure to bring your intentions to the foot of the Altar and the relics of St.James the Apsotle.
Please pray that our final day of the pilgrimage will be as safe and grace-filled as the prior 10 days. All the pilgrims are fast asleep (I think?), anxiously awaiting our final day. We certainly could not have accomplished this alone, and are very grateful for all your support and prayers.
To all our Dad’s living and deceased, a Happy Father’s Day!
